Churchill Downs Spring Meet Track Profile Week Six
Posts 4-6 went 12-for-16 in dirt sprints last week. Being upgraded to paid will be key when horses in these races come back. Why? There was a day with a significant post position bias. Also, there were multiple days with a running style bias in play.
Early runners went 4-for-5 in dirt mile races in week six at Churchill Downs. Overall, theyโre winning 41% of races.
Dirt routes continue to play to posts 4-6 and stalkers. Posts 4-6 went 6-for-9 last week. Stalkers only had one win. Remember, posts 4-6 are winning 51% of races, and stalkers are hitting at a 47% clip.
Only three turf routes last week. All three were won by closers. That fits the profile.
Dirt sprints played to the track profile last week in the running styles. Early runners and stalkers each had three wins. One closer won, and that was in a maiden special weight race.
4-of-5 dirt routes were won by posts 1-3. Closers went winless as there were three stalkers and two early runners who won.
Just three races sprinting and routing on the turf last week. Overall, in the sprints, off-the-pace runners have performed best. Four closers and two stalkers have won in seven races. Routing, the same can be said. Eleven stalkers and five closers have won in the eighteen races.

Racing will shift back to Aqueduct from the action at Saratoga, but these five days will be important to chart for when horses come back. The weather was the biggest factor and most certainly affected the results.
Dirt sprints played mostly even. Field sizes were under eight runners per race, making the post positions not as important to look at overall. Stalkers won 43% of races, but that was just three more races than early runners.
Dirt routes played as expected. Posts 1-3 went 5-for-9. Closer struggled, getting just one win.
Inner turf routes favored the outside draw. Posts 7+ went 5-for-8 over the week.
