What about when a horse that folds to pressure cuts back in distance?

That’s one where I’d hold them to that high standard still because the shorter in distance the race is, the faster other early runners are. That goes for the pressers too. 7 furlong or two turn routers that need to wire the field are not as fast cutting back to say 6 furlongs. The early stages of races at that longer distance aren’t as demanding. So I personally am very leery of runners that fit your question. Most times in my experience, they aren’t as fast and other early runners seem to be better options even when cutting back.
